GRAHAM NASH & ME
(1999)
In 1999,
Graham did a benefit appearance at The Long Island Art Museum.
Liz, Michael and I
were walking by the outdoor tent. Graham saw us, stopped his conversation
and walked across the room to say hello and chat with me and my family. I
showed him some of my pictures and he got a kick out of seeing the 1983 picture
of us, with my son in the same shirt I wore 17 years before. I asked
Graham what songs he was going to play that night. He asked me if I would
like to hear a new song from the soon to be released CSNY album. "Sure," I
said. Later that night, he played a beautiful acoustic version of
"Heartland," which now appears on the CSNY album "Looking Forward."
"Heartland" is one of those songs you love the first time you hear
it.
